Outlook
Up more ---

The Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) is moving into the Active Phase suggesting a more favorable environment for storm formation over the North Pacific for the next 3-4 weeks.  The second gale in a series was tracking through the Central Gulf of Alaska Wed-Fri (11/20)  generating 30-35 kt west winds and 20 ft seas.  Possible moderate swell by late Friday (11/20) but hacked, improving some Saturday but not much. Also a storm is building west of the dateline Wed-Fri (11/20) tracking northeast and expected to stall near the dateline just south of the Aleutians with 50 kts winds and 37-40 ft seas. Swell from this one is to just barely sneak under the Aleutian swell shadow towards Central CA with the Pacific Northwest in the shadow, arriving on Mon (11/23). Another storm is on the charts for the middle of next week in the Western Gulf with 45-50 kt west winds targeting the US West Coast well. And more is forecast behind that with the jetstream moving into a very favorable configuration. So the storm door is looking to open.
