Outlook
Up slightly ---

The Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) is in the Inactive state and expected to continue there through early next month. No direct support for gale development expected from it but El Nino will continue to favor gale and storm formation for a few more months (including in the Southern Hemi). A weak local gale is forecast off NCal on Fri/Sat (3/20) with 22 ft seas setting up swell for Mon. A better gale is modeled on the dateline Sun/Mon (3/22) with 30 ft seas but positioned a long distance away from our coast. Beyond the models hint at a progressive series of gales developing in the Western Gulf pushing well towards CA next week. Down south a weak/small gale formed southeast of Tahiti Thurs (3/11) with barely 30 ft seas.  Small swell is radiating north arriving Thurs (3/18).  A stronger storm built just southeast of New Zealand Sat/Sun (3/14) with 50 kt wind and up to 46 ft seas. Possible real southern hemi swell for California early next week.
